LOCAL TRANSPORT COMPANY GOES THE EXTRA MILE! - 1 October 2009

Hills ParcelDirect (previously Hills Transport) has joined forces with five other Australian state operators to deliver a bigger and more efficient national courier and freight service, through a new company called ParcelDirect Group.

Hills ParcelDirect's involvement with the new entity means businesses can now access a more efficient national network but still enjoy the local knowledge and personalised service of a NSW-based operator.

In additional to Hills ParcelDirect, the new entity includes the following heritage businesses:
  • Northern Kope Parcel Express (SA)
  • Vicfast Couriers (VIC)
  • PEP Transport (WA)
  • Parcel Overnight Direct (national operator)
  • Couriers Please (national operator)
These businesses were acquired in 2008 and during the past twelve months have been consolidated into an extensive national network of 800 vehicles and 1500 employees, contractors and drivers located across 56 branches.

Harlis Malkic, Chief Executive Officer of ParcelDirect Group, said, "We've gained significant understanding and local expertise from these businesses and we want to ensure that the local service is maintained throughout the national network."

With a focus on market-leading technology, the new group has already become a leader in end-to-end Supply Chain Visibility by rolling out in excess of 1200 "sign-on-screen" scanners to their network.

The next phase in uniting the group will involve a re-brand to add the ParcelDirect brand name to each of the state businesses (excluding Couriers Please) and progressively introduce a red and yellow theme to the vehicles and contractor uniforms.

"For our customers we have retained the business brand they are used to, and the addition of the new joint name of ParcelDirect acknowledges the businesses are part of a new, larger family."
